An IEP that has social objectives ought to likewise have a conduct area in the current levels, showing that conduct is an instructive need. On the off chance that the conduct is one that could be taken care of by changing the earth or by building up methods, you have to endeavor different intercessions before you adjust an IEP. With RTI (Response to Intervention) entering the region of conduct, your school may have a technique for being certain that you endeavor intercessions before you add a social objective to an IEP. Why Avoid Behavioral Goals? Social objectives will consequently pull back an understudy from the dynamic order plan set up in your school, as you have distinguished conduct as a piece of the understudies disability. An IEP that has a BIP joined frequently names an understudy when the person is moved to another educator, either to another study hall or to another calendar in center school or high school.A BIP must be followed over every single instructive condition and can make new difficulties not exclusively to the instructor of record yet additionally for specials, general training homeroom instructors. It won't make you famous. It is ideal to endeavor social mediations, for example, learning contractsâ before you move to a full FBA, BIP and conduct goals.ââ¬â¹ What Makes a Good Behavioral Goal? All together for a social objective to lawfully be a suitable piece of an IEP, it should: Be expressed in a positive way. Depict the conduct you need to see, not the conduct you dont need. i.e.: Dont compose: John wont hit or threaten his cohorts. Do Write: John will hush up about hands and feet. Be quantifiable. Keep away from abstract expressions like will be mindful, will settle on suitable decisions during lunch and break, will act in an agreeable way. (These last two were in my antecedents article on conduct objectives. PLEEZZ!) You ought to portray the geology of the conduct (what does it resemble?) Examples: Tom will stay in his seat during guidance 80 percent of watched brief stretches. or on the other hand James will remain in line during class changes with hands next to him, 6 out of 8 day by day advances. Ought to characterize the situations where the conduct is to be seen: In the study hall, Across all school conditions, In specials, for example, craftsmanship and exercise center. A conduct objective ought to be simple for any instructor to comprehend and bolster, by knowing precisely what the conduct ought to resemble just as the conduct it replaces. Stipulation We don't anticipate that everybody should hush up constantly. Numerous educators who have a standard No talking in class for the most part don't authorize it. What they really mean is No talking during guidance or bearings. We are regularly not satisfactory about when that is going on. Prompting frameworks, are significant to enable understudies to know when they can talk unobtrusively and when they should stay in their seats and be quiet. Instances of Common Behavior Challenges and Goals to Meet Them. Hostility: When John is irate he will toss a table, shout at the educator, or hit different understudies. A Behavior Improvement Plan would incorporate instructing John to distinguish when he needs to go to the chill off spot, self-quieting techniques and social prizes for utilizing his words when he is baffled as opposed to communicating it genuinely. In his general training homeroom, John will utilize a break pass to expel himself to the in class chill off spot, lessening animosity (tossing furniture, yelling obscenities, hitting peers) to two scenes per week as recorded by his educator in a recurrence outline. Out of Seat Behavior: Shauna experiences issues investing a lot of energy in her seat. During guidance she will slither around her schoolmates legs, get going to the homeroom sink for a beverage, she will shake her seat until she falls over, and she will toss her pencil or scissors so she needs to leave her seat. Her conduct isn't a reflection just of her ADHD yet additionally capacities to get her the educator and her friends consideration. Her conduct plan will incorporate social rewards, for example, being line pioneer for winning stars during guidance. The earth will be organized with viewable prompts which will clarify when a guidance is going on, and breaks will be incorporated with the calendar so Shauna can sit on the pilates ball or take a message to the workplace. During guidance, Shauna will stay in her seat for 80 percent of brief spans during 3 of 4 continuous hour and a half information assortment periods. Watch Out for Phishing!Once a scammer has you on the hook through a phishing scheme, they can reel in all your personal information and steal your identity! One phish, two phish, red phish, blue phish.Black phish, blue phish, old phish, new phish. This one wants to steal your cash, this one makes your hard drive crash.Say! These phish are not a bash.Yes, some are red and some are blue. Some are old and some are new. Some are sad and some are glad but theyâre all very, very bad.Phishing is a serious problem. Its a type of fraud scheme that attempts to gain information from you or an institution you work for via online contact, usually email.â70 to 90 percent of all malicious data breaches are due to social engineering and phishing,â warned computer security expert Roger Grimes (@rogeragrimes). âNo other cause comes close. Patching is 20 to 40 percent, everything else adds up to about one percent of the overall cybersecurity incident risk. Fighting phishing is the most important thing any organization can do. It must be done using a combination of technical controls, policies, and training. None of them by themselves will work, but defense-in-depth plans should try to implement all three to the best of their ability to achieve the best, fastest reduction in risk.âWhether or not you have employees, itâs smart to familiarize yourself with how you can be targeted by phishers and how to handle it.The email approach. As was previously mentioned, phishing tends to happen through email. You may get an email soliciting information under dubious premises.âCommon phishing attempts come by way of an email,â advised Adnan Raja, Vice President of Marketing for Atlantic.Net (@AtlanticNet). âA scammer will email you from what appears to be a trusted email address, when in fact it is fake. The best rule of thumb is to avoid clicking on links from random emails. If you receive an email from a website you normally visit, rather than clicking the potentially dangerous link, just go directly to the site from your browser. Or, if you need to click the link, you can hover over it first to make sure that its sending you where it claims.âAnother red flag is if the email doesnât contain your name at the beginning. It might say âDear Customerâ or âHello.â If itâs authentic, it will almost always contain your name. Lastly, phishing emails will often try to get you to divulge sensitive information by filling out a form.Try to avoid sending any kind of personal or financial information over the Internet. Again, if youâre in doubt, simply go to the main website of the company in question. Or pick up the phone and give them a call.âNothing to spear but spear itself. In addition to regular phishing attempts, you should be aware of more targeted phishing maneuvers. Especially if your job involves access to sensitive or valuable information.âSpear-phishing is a cybercrime that involves targeting specific individuals with access to important data which can include high-ranking individuals at an organization such as the CEO, C-level suite, and more,â explained Victor Congionti, CIO Co-Founder Proven Data ProvenData.com (@Proven_Data).âThe spear-phishing attack is constructed to target this individual by creating fraudulent communication via a phishing attempt. The phishing message is often emulated to look like a document/request that the person of interest would regularly see (email from a lawyer, top executive requesting information, etc).âAs more company officials use social media and other personal online networking sites such as LinkedIn, this gives the hacker a better scope of opportunity to build a spear-phishing campaign, and make more informed decisions on who to next prey upon. The key difference between spear-phishing and regular phishing is the personnel which the cybercriminal chooses to target. They are more likely to steal credentials and data from a high-ranking business official or CEO, who often h ave access to very private information about the company. The cybercriminal can then hold this data via ransomware or sell on the black market in which a cyber crime can take place.âOne of the best techniques to mitigate spear-phishing is to regularly have phishing tests via a security training service which can help potential victims identify the strategies techniques used in phishing emails to steal credentials and data.âIf you think youâve been hooked. Are you worried youâve fallen victim to phishing? Donât panic and donât be too embarrassed to admit what may have happened. It could happen to anyone. Rather than blaming yourself, itâs more important to contain any possible damage.âIf youve been a victim of phishing, take immediate action as soon as you realize the problem,â urged Stacey M. Clements of Milepost 42. âChange your account login credentials, and scan your system for malware. Also, report the phishing attack to the company that was impersonated. You may also want to notify your bank and credit card companies, and be sure to closely monitor your statements for unusual activity.âFinally, consider reporting the phishing attempt to the Anti-Phishing Working Group (APWG), an international coalition working to coordinate responses to cybercrime. You can forward the suspicious email to reportphishing@apwg.org; if your email client allows, forward the email as an attachment, as this will provide more details to help APWG tracking and analysis.âFrom there to here, from here to there, phishing can be everywhere. Perception or Standardization One of the most crucial mission of the emergency medical services (EMS) staff is to transfer patients in medical emergency situations. For this mission to be accomplished Ambulance services must be put in the forefront of healthcare services. Over the past decade the need for ambulances and emergency transportation of patients has increased significantly, though some of the transportations have not been so urgent (Gurchiek, 2014).à Safety is a very crucial theme underlying the EMS service delivery. Donââ¬â¢t waste time! Our writers will create an original "EMS Perception or Standardization" essay for you Create order This is because delivery of medical emergency services involves hazardous activities which needs care and safety. The purpose of this paper is to explain the theme safety by showing clearly how it has been used in the context of EMS. This paper will explore some of the safety issues addressed in EMS and the factors to be considered by the EMS staff on the safety of the patients. In order to progress from a classroom medic to a ââ¬Å"streetâ⬠medic, a very necessary process is required to transform controlled classroom learning into applicable knowledge in the hectic, pre-hospital patient care reality. On-the-job training or field internship (preceptorship) is used for Nursing Programs and other allied health professions to include Emergency Medical Services (EMS). Though there are national standards in place for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) certifications, without standardization of EMS preceptor programs, EMS agencies will have inconsistencies with patient care, provider competency, knowledge, skills and abilities. Every work environment is different; EMS agencies provide an undeniably unique environment. Newly certified medics, without prior EMS experience and even those with experience, are faced with accomplishing a variety of tasks, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The environment for the medic, the internee, should be conducive for learning, providing a place where the internee can gain confidence in their skills and find their way as a provider (Gurchiek, 2014). The transition from classroom medic to ââ¬Å"streetâ⬠medic is facilitated by a preceptor who are responsible for ensure proper patient care while balancing educating and evaluating the internee (Gurchiek, 2014). In essence, the internee is placing their future in the hands of their preceptor. The preceptor immensely impacts the interneeââ¬â¢s experience, as would any teacher to a student. Preceptor evaluation errors, preceptor lack of experience, knowledge of educating (Gurchiek, 2014) a major asset to student learning is the preceptorââ¬â¢s knowledge and experience along with the preceptorââ¬â¢s attitude and approach (Gurchiek, 2014). There are standards in other avenues of EMS. There are national certification requirements for EMS providers through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians. A platform named Platinum Planner was created By Platinum Education Group to aid in scheduling, reporting, and skill tracking. This platform provides a tracking system of hands-on experience that is utilized by students, instructors, preceptors, administrative staff, and clinical sites. (Platinum Educational Group Launches Skills Tracking App., 2016). Tidewater Community College uses Platinum Planner which replaced the main use of paper tracking which is no longer the sole primary form of skills tracking. The theme of Safety is clearly shown in the emergence medical services. First, due to safety measures in every EMS there must be an Ambulance. Ambulance is a life-saving vehicle hence an issues of safety comes out clearly. In addition, inside the Ambulance, there is another issue of safety. For example, in the cab. Mostly, EMS vehicles have cab which has two seats for two peoples. Some of the safety principles followed in the cab are; to always wear the lap and the shoulder belts in order to improve the chance of survival in a crash. This is because it will provide safety restraints which will help a person to stay in position when there is a displacement in the force of momentum. Another safety rule in the cab is that, no leaving a loose items on the dash.à Most of EMS personnelââ¬â¢s without home base may spend their time in the EMS units. During lulls they may decide to listen to, music, read books or even watch some movies on a small portable television, therefore itââ¬â¢s advisable that they keep loose items such as books, electronics or electronic appliances on the dash (The Preceptor-Student Relationship, 2004). This is because in the dash, the objects remains harmless unless displaced by unexpected change in momentum. Both occupants should make sure that they watch the road so as to increase precaution even when one of them is in a call. The driver should avoid sleepiness in addition to safety. During the night shift the driver may feel sleepy while driving. Itââ¬â¢s therefore advisable not to rely on caffeine or sugar for energy on such cases, shake off the drowsiness by opening the EMS unitââ¬â¢s window or by getting out a few minutes to stretch. In the patient compartment there needs safety also. Though in the patient compartment itââ¬â¢s not risky but the EMS staff also need to follow some strategies to promote its safety. First, never let tunnel vision remove the need for your personal safety. Secure the seat belts, also secure the patient by doing whatever it regard despite the ride. The Ems stuff in the patient compartment should also develop the hanging habit. One of the inherent risk of EMS is moving around the patient compartment for example, during CPR in a moving ambulance, the person doing chest compression must bend over the patient, with arms straight with appropriate position to push down (The Preceptor-Student Relationship, 2004). Another key aspect of safety in EMS is safe driving (Gurchiek, 2014). Sometimes EMS personnel are asked to drive big vehicles which are big than their personal cars, though some of them have never gone for training in any of the emergency medical vehicle driving school. Some of the basic safe driving principles related to driving an EMS unit are: no driving while lights and sirens are on. This is because people react different when they hear about sirens. Some obey the rules by pulling off their vehicles or stop. If the vehicle was being driven in non- emergence mode then this may cause harm to the members of the public by sending wrong information.à Another principle is that, obey the local standards operating procedures. There are some jurisdictions rules provided to guide on the use of emergence mode ((Gurchiek, 2014)). Most require sirens and lights to be used only during the emergence mode only, while others allow some direction to minimize the use of sirens to avoid destruction of the interest of the community. For example itââ¬â¢s advisable that you turn off all emergency flashes and sirens early in situations of potential interpersonal violence, turn off one or two blocks away and drive to the scene obeying all the traffic rules as a none emergency vehicle. Also for safe driving if using warning equipment, use of all of it. Another aspect is seen in the decisions of the EMS staffs on whether to transport patients. For patient transportation a lot of safety considerations are done. Patientsââ¬â¢ physical status is one of the major contributing factor influencing the EMS staffs decision about transportation. In general the patientsââ¬â¢ vital status are the main criteria for assessing the patientsââ¬â¢ safety. According to (Gurchiek, 2014), heart rate, blood pressure, body temperature, level of consciousness and oxygen saturation are some of the physiological parameters which are used in determining the patients physical health status. Rees and Mann, in his study included two physiological parameters, which are central nervous system response and respiratory rate. It is also argued that, beside the abnormal physiological conditions, the presence of pathologic conditions also plays an important role in making a decision on transportation. For example, if an EMS staff notices a life- threatening condition like an acute myocardial infarction, they can decide to transport the patient immediately despite of the other parameters and conditions. The main idea here is that the signs and the symptoms of pathologic condition can not only used for making decisions, but also the EMS staffs require a great amount of knowledge and expertise for diagnosing the patient. [bookmark: _GoBack]à à In conclusion, Safety has been given the main concern in the SMS. This is because, by following the safety rules in real live situation a lot of lives can be saved. There are also other themes expressed in emergency medical services like healthy. The strength of socioeconomically and organizational support perception also affects the transportation decision made by the EMS staff. Perception of stronger support implies that, they could make decision that they are more sensible. The North had been more of an industrial economy and the South were all farmers that required cheap labor. In 1818, Missouri Territory had gained the required population to be entered into the Union as a state. It was expected to be entered as a slave state. Then in January, 1820 a bill was passed to enter Maine into the Union. This would balance out the equal power between the amount of slave states and non-slave states. This was known as the Missouri Compromise. It showed how North and South wanted an equal amount of states to be free of slaves and states with slaves. The North had already disputed having slaves and the South originally had the idea of keeping the slaves to increase their profit. The South and the North were both economically separated decades before the war, and during that time this difference was of less concern to the people of the U.S. In 1787, the 3/5ths compromise was created . Important consideration for nurses while conducting evaluations of indigenous programs whose purpose is to promote mental health and well-being. Emotional stability programs, cultural and healing programs can have effective in development of the mental and social well-being of indigenous participants, mental health care program can increase high level of satisfaction among indigenous participants, and small scale evaluating program among indigenous and non-indigenous participants, can improved communications between them (Australian government, 2013). Studies have been conducted to evaluate the effect of indigenous program, and it is found out that effectively participating in mental and social well-being program, indigenous people are positively benefitted. The social and emotional well-being program provides counselling to indigenous people suffering from depression. An evaluating program found out that, it provides counselling service to large no. of indigenous population affected by depression (Australian Institute of health and welfare, 2011). "For what reason do you turn out and line up for the fight to come? Am I not a Philistine and would you say you are not the workers of Saul? Pick a man and have him come down to me. In the event that he can battle and slaughter me, we will end up being your subjects; however in the event that I defeat him and execute him, you will end up being our subjects and serve us" (1 Samuel 17:8-9). The Israelites were panicked and couldn't discover even a solitary man with enough strength to fight this gigantic champion. They shook in their boots for 40 days until the point that the response to the majority of their supplications at long last appeared. The little shepherd kid, David, who had conveyed a care bundle to his siblings from his dad, had caught the Israelite officers' jaw about the prizes that the victor over Goliath would gather. To David, Goliath was only some "uncircumcised Philistine" who was resisting the armed forces of the living God (embed incidental reference), so doing combating him was not as large of an arrangement as it would be for some other individual. Indeed, Saul had caught wind of David and what he was stating and sent for him. One can just think about what Saul's response was when initially looking at David. "You are not ready to go out against this Philistine and battle him; you are just a kid, and he has been a battling man from his childhood" (1 Samuel 17:33). By and by, David had been tallied out as a result of his youth and his minute stature. What Saul did not know was that David's marvelous confidence in God totally compensated for his absence of size or quality. David's answer to Saul was one that was surprising. David let him know of two separate circumstances when the Lord had conveyed him from both the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear (1 Samuel 17:37). David assumed that if the Lord had spared him from these wild mammoths, he would now convey him from the hand of the forceful Philistine. This picked up Saul's endorsement to battle Goliath. Since he was going out to fight, David would now require protection. Sa ul gave him some of his own, however David was not used to such overwhelming, cumbersome, wear and along these lines couldn't put it to great utilize. As indicated by creator Matthew Henry, "...this was from the Lord, that it may all the more evidently show up he battled and vanquished in confidence, and that the triumph was from Him who works by the feeblest and most loathed means and instruments." So David, outfitted just with five stones, a sling, and the defensive layer of the Lord, went out to confront the considerable warrior that was Goliath. So the scene is currently set and the conditions are perfect for the gigantic surprise that David was going to lay on Goliath and whatever is left of the Philistines. Goliath strolled effortlessly ahead to meet his easy enemy. Hoping to see some other extraordinary warrior (obviously, not as awesome as himself) to approach and test him, Goliath is met with the unexpected that it is just a young man, a young man that he now loathes (1 Samuel 17:42). This is the place Goliath commits an unpleasant error; he reviles David by his divine beings. This lone reinforces David's confidence that God will convey him. 1 Samuel 17:45-46a says, "You come against me with sword and lance and spear, however I come against you for the sake of the Lord Almighty, the God if the armed forces of Israel, whom you have opposed. This day the Lord will hand you over to me and I'll strike you down and remove your head." That, actually, is exactly what David did. Goliath headed toward David however met his actua l end when David flung his sling shot and associated with 100% skull, and Janehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07318821276267140044noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9045203975499004531.post-22100237500653525532020-03-09T15:01:00.001-07:002020-03-09T15:01:02.549-07:00Free Essays on EEOLIn business at the Human Resource department there are many topics that raise discussion and cause controversy. Its focus is on providing low cost, efficient, frequent connections and consequently offering no other frills or supporting services on their flights. The changes in the nature of the barriers to entry in the mid - 1980s with the deregulation of the airline industry , as well as the adoption of a strategy which was noticeably different from that pursued by the market leader at the time (Aer Lingus) was a credible means for Ryan air to gain entry into the market. O'Leary, the company's Chief Executive Office, adopted the Southwest Airlines model, established by Herb Kelleher which adhered to the following principles: fly one type of plane to keep down engineering costs every year; turn around aircraft as quickly as possible; and concentrate on selling seats by avoiding loyalty schemes or air miles. The airline took several other steps to restructure its business model. It eliminated business class to concentrate on economy class and leisure customers. It stopped serving free meals and beverages on flights - a move which allowed the airline to reduce the number of attendants on each flight from five to two. It also eliminated seat assignments to speed up boarding and stopped carrying cargo, which reduced aircraft turnaround times from 45 minutes to 25 minutes. There has been a revolutionary increase in the number of low-cost airline which are otherwise called the budget airlines in the aviation industry over the last few years. The budget airlines are usually operators who provide low-cost travel options for the passengers. The budget airlines try and cut the indirect costs to the maximum possible extent. Passengers are not offered wet towels, meals etc. Sometimes it may even happen that they do not even offer water to the passengers flying the budget airlines [(Phillip), 2002]. Internal analysis Revenue Generation is one of the most important aspects that Budget airlines give more importance, to the extent that most of the budget airlines have a position that is unique to this particular industry - "Chief Revenue Officer" (AIR DECCAN) whose sole responsibility is to focus on revenue generation from all possible sources. Unlike the scheduled airlines, they sell the maximum possible space they can. They sell space on the aircrafts in order to give advertisements. They even sell the space on the rear side of the boarding passes (Palanikumar). However, despite of the increase of passengers, the company is not so good in managing cost that the company has lose its money. A new management team is brought in to sort it out and re-launch as a "low fares or no frills" airline, closely modelling the Southwest Airlines model in the U.S. And in 1994, Ryan air bought its first Boeing 737 aircraft which carried over 1.5 million passengers. In 1995, Ryan air is the biggest passenger carrier on Dublin-London route, the largest Irish airline on every route being operate and carried 2.25 million passengers in the year (ivythesis). The main areas which have been the focus of the airline's concentration on costs have been: - Fleet commonality (operates only one type of aircraft, Boeing 737- 200s) - Contracting out of services Janehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07318821276267140044noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9045203975499004531.post-6706986739324779132020-02-05T22:12:00.001-08:002020-02-05T22:12:03.275-08:00Letter of proficiency in English Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 wordsLetter of proficiency in English - Essay Example Now, I recollected my childhood experiences not accidentally but because as I was studying English it turned out that few of my favorite 'foreign' words which I had conjured up by myself as a child turned out to be exactly like the real words in the real English language, which made me even more confident, notwithstanding the clearly accidental nature of this coincidence, that I was capable of intuitive understanding of languages. I believe this positive self-confidence, along with numerous other confirmations of the rightfulness of my decision to learn English like for instance the dominance of English content in Internet, only added to my enthusiasm and energy during my learning of this language. Regarding concrete ways of my study of English, perhaps the most important one for me was that I have been taught in English already starting from my primary education and up to my postgraduate education. In this way, I was able to simultaneously become acquainted with the grammatical rules of English, and to have practice in spoken language, which, as I now understand, requires somewhat separate skills. The show presented us with the harsh reality that, although America is the last remaining super power and has the most stable economy on the planet, it has a section of its population that deals with hunger on a daily basis. I found myself sitting in front of the TV set in disbelief. I wondered how some people of America can be hungry all the time and not have enough to eat when food seems so easy to come by. As far as I was concerned, food was aplenty and could be shared by everybody. I knew that the government has a food stamps program in place for those deserving ââ¬Å"below the poverty line incomeâ⬠families. Charitable organizations host soup kitchens and a meal can even be had for a dollar over at McDonaldââ¬â¢s. I will admit that times are rough for us these days. Money is tight even for the middle income bracket of society because of the recent financial crunches that have been hitting the nation. Plenty of people have recently lost their homes and jobs. Some people have unexpected financial emergencies that they are not prepared to deal with. When such situations occur, families tend to restructure their budgets and the one part of the budget that is usually hit hard is the food allowance. For most American families who do not have credit cards to time them over from paycheck to paycheck, hunger becomes an ugly monster that not only rears its ugly head but also swallows the family whole. American families usually sacrifice their food supply thinking that keeping the other necessities of life in working order is important in their quest to keep the family from starving. A low to middle income father or mother will choose to spend on car repairs and sacrifice the food supply because the car takes them to the job that pays them cash which in turn buys the food. Medical care is unintentionally put on the back burner while the family tries to cope with rising food prices. When a family member is taken seriously ill and needs emergency care, it is the food budget that will automatically be slashed in order to afford the necessary healthcare. Basically, Americans are hungry because the government miscalculated the actual cost of living allowance for a basic family of 3. Originally designed to figure out the food cost for a started family, it failed to take inflation, transportation, rise in utility costs, and healthcare insurance into the picture. Looking at todayââ¬â¢s actual cost of living, a $5 hourly minimum wage is an insult to the worker and his needs in life. I think that the main reason that people in America are going hungry is because after the Welfare Reform Act of 1990 was introduced into law, it became almost impossible for families in need of food aid to qualify for the food stamps. I cannot understand the logic behind that move of the government. Why would a government willingly stop supporting the people who voted them into power? The government collects taxes from us specifically because there are government projects and social needs that need to be addressed for the benefit of the entire population. This includes a more effective food stamp program that does not discriminate amongst the already poor and needy population of the land. Food stamps and soup kitchens should always be open and available to those who need it. If they get a job later on and stop needing the food stamps, well and good. But if they lose their jobs again or need the help of the food stamps to quash their hunger pangs, those tax dollars they paid to the government while working better be ready and available to help them in the form of food aid. After all, nobody chooses to be nor wants to be hungry and we would all want to receive help when we need it the most. Work Cited Valentine, Vikki. (2007). QA: The Causes behind Hunger in America. The spur was one of the essential tools that a knight possessed as an equestrian. The spur was first introduced for its purpose in encouraging the horse on, but as medieval times approached the spur gained its decorative aspects and held more of a romantic value to people. The spur became elaborate with beads and embroidery, fancy brass, and gold metals. The spur was essentially an emblem of Knighthood; ââ¬Å"to win his spursâ⬠ceremonies put spurs at the investiture of a knight, and were cut off at occasions of degradation (Lacy). The spur is a piece of hard ware that is attached to the heel by a strap usually made of leather. It is Y-shaped, and pointed towards the horse so that the rider can aggress his horse on. In early time the spur was always attached with a strap, however as the spur evolved, the strap was no longer of importance. The spur also grew more and more elaborate during the medieval ages, velvet straps, intricate designs and wheels that made the spur more of a showpiece than a tool. Before the period of the 13th century the spur was that of the ââ¬Å"prickâ⬠style, where it is basically just a point that urged the horse. However during the 14th century the ââ¬Å"rowelâ⬠type spur gained its popularity. This type of spur looked as though it had a wheel on the end of it. Spurs at its earliest times were made of bone and wood, then later of bronze, brass or iron. The rowel spur was definitely the spur of choice around medieval times because it was so elaborate. It was first introduce d in 1238 by France Simon de Montfort, however did not really catch on until 1285. In looking at the spur and how it correlates to the chivalrous time period. The moist important spur to know is St. George's Spurs, or the Kings Coronation Spurs. These spurs are part of a regular presentation with crown jewels in the Tower, which are used at the coronation of the Sovereign made by Sir Robert Vyner. My little sister Ann and our father danced to this song at her quince for the father daughter dance. It was originally planned for me to sing the song but I got too emotional in order to sing it thus there was a change of plans. This song was written by Clark Richard for a future daughter that he wishes to have. Red Robin,â⬠helped me personally celebrate a very joyous occasion by making me realize my little sister was growing up, letting me know how my parents feel, and by allowing me to show her that our family will always be there for her; especially myself. It has been harder for me to see my sister growing up than some. Unlike other older sisters, where they just had to be an older sister, I helped raise my younger sister. When we were very young both of my parents were in the military and we moved around all the time. When my mom was deploy ed to Germany and my dad become ââ¬Å"mom,â⬠it was horrid. He had never been on that side of the relationship before, where he wasnââ¬â¢t the provider. He would stress out and leave to go work out all the time and we wouldnââ¬â¢t see him for hours. When my older brother was at school, I took care of my little sister. Now donââ¬â¢t get me wrong, my dad was a great dad. It just took him time and patience that he didnââ¬â¢t have just yet to get better and before he would leave he would always make sure everything harmful was out of reach. He became a great mom after a while; it just took time. Until then though, I helped clean, put up my sisterââ¬â¢s toys, get us something to eat, help take baths, get her pajamas on, etc. I love my little sister almost like a daughter and in this song, it explains a little girl growing up to be a women and it is a struggle for me because I will always see my little sister as this little girl who I had to help take care of when my m om wasnââ¬â¢t home. In my opinion, this is what also helped me into the mindset of my parents and helped me understand how they must feel.I believe that all parents have different feelings about the love that they have for their children and they all show it very differently as well. The way that Richard describes how he feels for his daughter is moving and passionate. He sings to her saying, in not so many words, that he will always be there for her and watching over her, he canââ¬â¢t rest without knowing that she is safe, and that even after death he will be waiting for her return home. If one was to meet my mom or dad, I would believe that this would be similar to how they feel.I use this song to express the emotion in which me and my parents towards my little sister becoming a women and it makes me want to cry. There is one main lyrical line that even shows the worries and thoughts in which a parent would be thinking through a child life. In ââ¬Å"Red Robin,â⬠Richar d states, ââ¬Å"she knows Iââ¬â¢ll toss and turn no chance Iââ¬â¢ll sleep tonight till I know sheââ¬â¢s made it home all right. â⬠In this line Richard describes how when his daughter is out and about, he wonââ¬â¢t be able to sleep at all until she is home and safe. When he states, or sings this line, he shows the compassion and forethought in which a parent would have. He describes how his daughterââ¬â¢s safety matters above all and without the knowledge of her safety he will never be at rest. This is how all parents should feel or worry about their children. The part that frustrates me is that there are a lot of parents who could care less and they just expect their children to be home and donââ¬â¢t even check on them. I have cousins who sneek out all the time and never get caught because their mother doesnââ¬â¢t check on them and they never tell anyone where they are going. They could get seriously injured or even raped and no one would know where they we re. I worry about my sister and when I am home, and I get back from being out, whether my mom as already or not, I always check on her. I see her as a daughter and when she is out with her friends or with a particular cousin I will always worry about her until I know she is home safe. Plus, in my personal opinion, when you have a 17 year old daughter (or sister), you should always worry about them until they get home because they donââ¬â¢t always get into the safest situations; especially when or if they are feeling neglected.Teenagers when they go through their hormonal phases to become adults always have times when they feel neglected, unwanted, that no one listens to them and that everyoneââ¬â¢s against him or her and so on. When my sister and I were younger, when my mom was actually home, I was the kind of child that demanded more attention and she was not. Although, now that sheââ¬â¢s older, she demands a lot of attention and she gets it since she is still ââ¬Å"the b abyâ⬠and she is the only child my mom and dad have left that is not already going to college. When we had her Quince, one big point was to include my sister in every decision that was made. That usually is not true for most Hispanic girls. Usually it is planned for them and they learn the dances and attend, itââ¬â¢s very rare that a soon to be 15 year old girl gets any decision making power in this type of situation, but; my mom is a very open Hispanic. My mom and I did everything in our power to make this whole party all about her and by the end of it, everyone cried, including my sister. If she ever felt unwanted or inconvenienced, it wasnââ¬â¢t while we were planning or Quince and it wasnââ¬â¢t during the night we had the party either. And, even if she did, she didnââ¬â¢t after she looked at the bill.We still have fights today, mainly her and my mom since Iââ¬â¢m at college, because she believes that no one is listening to her and that my mom is completely aga inst her. Whenever I come home, if I donââ¬â¢t side with her completely on everything, she still throws tantrums and I have to get on to her and scold her so that she will go apologize to our mom since she wasnââ¬â¢t right and she knows it. She just doesnââ¬â¢t want to admit it or she didnââ¬â¢t ââ¬Å"see it that wayâ⬠. I love my little sister and no matter how many times we get in fights, I will always be there for her no matter what. Red Robin,â⬠by Clark Richard is a very moving, emotional song. Just singing it in my head still makes me want to tear up. The emotional stress that this song caused me during my sisterââ¬â¢s Quince was very annoying but it made me realize and learn many things. This song was written by Clark Richard for a future daughter that he wishes to have. ââ¬Å"Red Robin,â⬠helped me personally celebrate a very joyous occasion by making me realize my little sister was growing up, letting me know how my parents feel, and by allowi ng me to show her that our family will always be there for her; especially myself. But there are so many different kinds of shopping centers that we can but wonder ââ¬â why so many? Do we really need them? And what is the difference between a small store in the country and a shopping center in the city? First of all, I want to say that nothing in the world of business is done without demand. If people didnââ¬â¢t express a desire to shop in different stores, there wouldnââ¬â¢t have been so many of them. And I think that there is nothing particularly bad about it. People choose places to buy what they need on the basis of different factors, such as affordability, location, choice, goods and service quality and many others. In fact, each person has his or her own selection of characteristics an ideal shopping place has to possess. Thus, it is clear that to satisfy needs of different people, we need many shops with different combinations of the above listed features. As for large shopping centers and downtown stores, they differ in everything, which is conditioned first of all by the tastes of people who are used to shop in them. An average person from a village will simply get lost in a large shopping mall, as you really have to get used to it. But he just wonââ¬â¢t understand the reason why he has to wonder between rows filled with such a variety of goods. The exact thought or message can only be shared if oneness of thought is achieved. The difficulty is that thought cannot simply be picked up and placed in another person s head. Thus, a communicator must select some symbols or sign that both sender and receiver can understand the same thing. Businesses, groups and individuals use trademarks, logos and symbols to generate brand awareness in public forums. It will easier for people to recognize a product, business or individual by simply associating them with their trademark. We must draw not only on our knowledge of language, but on our knowledge of the world. Thus, readers of advertisements bring with them a surface knowledge of the language as well as a set of preconceived ideas about how to relate the ad to them. Advertising work on a variety of different levels including, but not limited to sign typology, paradigmatic meaning, psychological appeals, emotion, roles, values/beliefs, and knowledge. The impact of an advertisement comes from the interplay between these various aspects of make-up and the reader s own notions about them and the world. For example, the stamen ââ¬Å"Test Your Faith in Nike advertisement, the readers find themselves thrust into the schema of religious worship. American individualism is at the root of the American dream, American capitalism, and American literature. This is perhaps less obvious in works based on the principles of science and not character or society. Naturalismââ¬â¢s relationship with individualism is embedded in its existence as the story of man versus nature, human determination to survive, and authorsââ¬â¢ transcendent portraits of being. In ââ¬Å"To Build a Fireâ⬠, Jack London creates an American character whose belief in his ability to complete a journey alone results in his death. Thisâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Even as London draws a pessimistic conclusion where the unyielding powers of natural laws overcome the individual, he undercuts determinism with the upshot of the manââ¬â¢s dog and friends surviving past the end of the story. With the last lines, London narrates an image of ââ¬Å"stars that leaped and danced and shone brightly in the cold skyâ⬠(639). He describes an indifferent and cruelly beautiful universe of hard science but then incorporates a promise of the continued existence of human life, of ââ¬Å"food providers and fire providersâ⬠(639) who were smart enough to protect themselves from the extreme cold. The strong narrative of naturalism and pessimistic determinism in ââ¬Å"To Build a Fireâ⬠does not exclude the presence of hope and beauty. This short story about a ma n dying alone in the incredibly cold tundra suggests that though an individual manââ¬â¢s place in the universe is worthless, humanity will transcend and persist. This equation can be used to examine how the expected value maximization model relates to firmââ¬â¢s various functional departments. The marketing department often has primary responsibility for promotion and sales (TR); the production department has primary responsibility for development costs (TC); and the finance department has primary responsibility for acquiring capital and, hence, for the discount factor (i) in the denominator. These functional areas have lots of important overlaps. The marketing department can help reduce costs for a given level of output by influencing customer order size and timing. The production department can stimulate sales by improve quality. Other departments, such as accounting, HR, transportation and engineering, can provide information and services vital to sales growth and cost control. All the activities can affect the risk of firms and the discount rate used to determine present values. Q1-3 Describe the effects of each of the following managerial decisions or economic influences on the value of the firm: A. The firm is required to install new equipment to reduce air pollution. New equipment installed will increase the operating cost. And the sales may increase if the customers have positive attitude to firmââ¬â¢s environmental friendly policy. B. Through heavy expenditures on advertising, the firms marketing department increases sales substantially. Heavy expenditure on advertising will increase revenues, cost and the demands of customers, which may influence the discount rate. C. The production department purchases new equipment that lowers manufacturing costs. New equipment that lowers manufacturing costs will reduce the total cost. And the lower price may increase the sales because of the increase of demands. D. The firm raises prices. Quantity demanded in the short run is unaffected, but in the longer run, unit sales are expected to decline. Higher price will decrease the demands of customers and will influence the revenue. E. The Federal Reserve System takes actions that lower interest rates dramatically. Lower interest rate will reduce the cost and discount rate. F. An expected increase in inflation causes generally higher interest rates, and, hence, the discount rate increases. Higher rate of inflation increases the discount rate and decrease the present value of a constant income stream. Q1-6 Which concept the business profit concept or the economic profit concept provides the more appropriate basis for evaluating business operations? Why? The economic profit concept provides the most appropriate basis for evaluating business operations, because it considers implicit costs of capital into profit formula and is more comprehensive. Even sometime business profit is positive, economic profit could be negative, because economic profit concept takes all additional factors into consideration. Prologue. In what would be characteristically seen as intrinsically manifested throughout the areas of existentialism, this idea of suffering, its components, as well as its distinctiveness on the part of the feebleness of human life becomes a common and usual conception for Kierkegaard, so as not to be considered. The philosopher who has sparked the notion of existentialism, as he had subjugated into the depths of human emotion and pain while attuning to the experience of the obstinate human existence, Kierkegaard would be a philosopher that has indeed rightly come to the connection of what underlies beneath the core of human frailty and suffering. By this so, I have come to regard the notion with what a suffering being in the facticity of existing could portray, and that amidst all the concepts of understanding which would cause this, man would still participate of the misery and despair that are quite partly inept of what his being is. This is quite a vague notion to underlie but understand ing Kierkegaard and his description of angst as a conception that man is indeed trapped into the misery of life; the understanding of the cause of his being would illuminate the ideas presented. In which case, Kierkegaard meaningly construes the agony of despair with the being that man is, which he himself views as being locked into the pressures of his vindictive existence. II. despair, as the sickness unto death. The notion of despair becomes unseemingly the principal lot to which Kierkegaard expresses his outlook on the desolate existence of man. This concept, which manifestly recognizes Kierkegaard as an existentialist, proceeds from a basic understanding that despair is an attribute that is inherent in man, a concept which introduces him to be a predestined being. Literally, the phrase ? Despair is the sickness unto death ? connotes an illness of which outcome would be death, as death is doubtless the last phase in a sickness and yet for Kierkegaard it would not appear to be the last thing' . As, he connotes in the strictest sense, the last things being death itself, but death only the last thing, which makes despair precisely the final thing for man. Hence, despair becomes the sickness unto death. Kierkegaard notes this in bodily sickness, but far from being true, death only succumbs to the end of the body, meaning to say to die from a bodily death. On the contrary, despair is a sickness wherein there is no bodily death but eternal death, since the torment of despair is not being able to die. As such, the sickness unto death becomes an expression of not dying. It is like a terminal sickness where the only hope to get rid of it is to die, and while in despair, gets rid of the only cure, of not being able to die, hence suffering eternal bodily torment. There is no hope of cure, the hopelessness of not being to derived the pleasure of dying is like death being dead itself. The danger of which says Kierkegaard, despair clings to you even more terrible than that of bodily death. For Kierkegaard, dying means that it is all over, but dying the death means to live to experience death; and if for a single instant this experience is possible, it is tantamount to experiencing it forever. Despair becomes an eternal sickness that the self loses its capability of dying in the same sense that the body dies of sickness. An impossibility, wherein what happens is that the dying of despair transforms itself constantly into living thing. It is precisely self-consuming, that you cannot do anything else but to despair itself go deeper and deeper into impotent self-consumation. The fact that despairing cannot consume the body is the reason why the self-gnawing pain is eternal since the comfort of ridding oneself of despair cannot be attained. In contrast, a despairing man can only despair about himself. He hopes to achieve the end of his despair but is powerless to do so since his own anxiety over the despair that consumes him. And the fact that he cannot get rid of the self which causes this despair makes him a hapless being. The most obvious parallel in the film is the parallel between the real world and the fantasy world of the character Ofelia. Both worlds are filled with danger. At any second in both of these worlds your life could be lost. Del Torro separates the real world from the fantasy world with many visual motifs. One of the visual motifs is the extreme differences in the color of the worlds. In the real world the director uses blues and green and other dark hues. The dark colors help to represent the dark realities that are taking place out side in the real world. The fantasy world is full of warmer colors such as red and gold. These warm colors help to give off a fairy tale type world and really help the audience to differentiate the two worlds. A example of the dark colors used in the real world is during the dinner of Captain Vidal. At the dinner there are many people from the community present each one is dressed in dark clothing. The dinning room is very dim and there is not very much light on the table. The dinning room of the fantasy character pale face is a example of warm colors being used in the fantasy world. In the hall of pale face there is a lot light which lights up the room. The table is very lit up and the food on it can easily be seen. Mercedes the servant and the faun from the fantasy world is also a parallel which is in the film. Both characters share many of the same characteristics. Both character are very sneaky. Both character befriend the the young girl Ofelia and both have anterior motives to what they are doing. Mercedes is working for the Captain Vidal as a servant. She washes the Captains clothing and makes him dinner. She acts as if she is his friend but in reality she is a spy for the rebels and is taking advantage of working for the Captain to send the rebels supplies and tell them important information about the Captains army. The faun persuades Ofelia that he is helping her. She thinks that he is her friend but really he is using her so that he can get back to the underworld that he belongs to. The theme of the movie is making choices and being desobidiant and going against what everyone says is right or normal. Ofelia makes many choices in the film. She makes the choice to prove that she is worthy to return to the underworld. She makes the choice to crawl in the frog hole and she made the choice to eat the grapes in Pale Faces dinning room. The biggest choice that she makes though is the choice she makes to deny the Faun and not give him her baby brother. This choice turns out to be her most important choice that she will make. A example of disobedience is Mercedes. Mercedes was disobedient to the Captain. Her disobedience put her at great risk. She had to take chances. The chances she took ended up paying off in the end when the rebels finally ended up taking out the Captain and his army. From the film one can learn the importance of taking chances and making choices. The film also teaches us about disobedience. Are desobidance puts us at risk, but is important to do what we feel is right. The film also teaches the harsh realitys of war and how it can cause men to do terrible things. Mill provides the answer to this question in the very next sentence saying that what concerns the individuals should "belong" to them and society has a control on that part "which chiefly interests" it. Here, Mill does not, however, elaborate on what could be those areas of society's interest. After ruling out the possibility of the society being based on a 'contract', the author still thinks that the individuals owe the other members of the society "a return for the benefit" of the protection that the society provides. The individuals cannot be allowed to harm other people's interests. Rather they should play their part in protecting them against injury. If individuals act in a way that mars other people's welfare, even if they are not illegal, they may be "punished by opinion." Here, public opinion is suggested to be a subst itute for law when necessary. Mill writes, "These conditions society is justified in enforcing at all costs to those who endeavor to withhold fulfillment". When a person's conduct affects only his interests, however, Mill says, that person should be allowed "to do the action and stand the consequences". There is no justification for society's meddling. After setting After setting the boundary line for the society, Mill goes on to clear his standpoint by saying, "It would be a great misunderstanding of this doctrine to suppose that it is one of selfish indifference, which pretends that human beings have no business with each other's conduct in life, and that they should not concern themselves about the well-doing or well-being of one another" he declares that "It is equally the business of education to cultivate" in the students the feelings of compassion for the fellow human beings and the sense of responsibility to the society. Individuals are indebted to each other. They should help and encourage each other in bringing about the best of themselves. But no individual should dictate terms to another simply because "He is the person most interested in his own well-being" and also because he better understands his circumstances that make him behave in a certain way than anyone else or the society in general. Others can offer their a dvice and suggestions but cannot take any decision on behalf of the person. If the individual allows others to take his decisions, then that might cause greater harm than if he takes a decision against the popular belief. Next, Mill talks about the freedom of opinion. Suppression of public opinion by the government can only lead to concealment of truth. By this Mill does not mean that public opinion is never wrong or biased, but at least the opinions that are wrong can be challenged to arrive at the truth. Here, Mill uses an interesting adjective that is, "self-regarding" which means concerning solely the individual, and advocates that in these self-regarding matters the government or the society has no right to interfere. However, sensing attack against this viewpoint, Mill immediately clarifies saying that this should not stop a well wisher of an individual from warning him against the harm he might cause himself by behaving in certain way even if it is about the self-regarding affairs. Baldwin's choice of Sonny's brother as a narrator is what makes "Sonny's Blues" significant in terms of illustrating the relationship and emotional complications of Sonny and his brother. The significance of "Sonny's Blues" lies in the way Sonny's brother describes the relationship based on what he observes, hears, and feels, and how he struggles trying to understand Sonny through the course of the story. As Sonny's brother, he gets to be physically and mentally as close to Sonny as anyone else can. Readers get to know that Sonny's brother is a fairly reliable narrator from the fact that he is an algebra teacher and far less abused by "horse" or "the low ceiling of their actual possibilities" than the kids around the neighborhood, including Sonny. Sonny's brother is aware of what is going on between Sonny and him and accurately describes the relationship, "The seven years' difference in our ages lay between us like a chasm: I wondered if these years would ever operate between us as a bridge." (44) The "chasm" is where the story begins, and revolves around the entire story. Sonny's brother is aware of the "chasm," yet what Sonny is thinking remains mysterious since the narrator himself does not know. His narration allows readers to keep wondering and exploring flaky and "dreamlike" mind of Sonny. Sonny's brother stands as a major character and also as a first person narrator, meaning that he is a participant in the action. Baldwin achieves the sense of vividness by placing the narrator right in the middle of the action. "I started down the steps, whistling to keep from crying, I kept whistling to myself, You going to need me, baby, one of these cold, rainy days." (54) After an awful fight, Sonny's brother is disappointed at Sonny and himself. His whistling vividly conveys his struggle, despair and also love for his brother, allowing readers to get into his feeling. Dialogue is effectively used from Sonny's brother's point of view to convey how misunderstanding of two brothers gets built up. In the middle of a long conversation, Sonny's brother notes, "I simply couldn't see why on earth he'd want to spend his time hanging around nightclubs, clowning around on bandstands, while people pushed each other around a dance floor.
